As an editor, I’ve pretty much seen it all.

And figured out how to fix it. Confusing, repetitive structure? I create clarity from chaos. Stuffy, stilted language? I make it fresh and relevant. Overwhelming, disorganized project? I can project-manage that sucker into submission.

In my professional life I’ve edited and shepherded literally hundreds (and hundreds) of magazines, books, and website articles. In my personal life, I’ve supported authors’ tender first writing attempts as well as job seekers, business builders, and nonprofits.

Getting thoughts on the page is the first hurdle. Then you need somebody to help you make them shine. Create clarity, liven up dull language, clean up mistakes. All while preserving the author’s voice and intent. My editing levels up your words; it’s what you wrote (but better).

Project Management

 

When you need somebody who understands the big picture of an editorial project AND is great at keeping track of the details, that’s my sweet spot. Not every writer knows how to curate content into a holistic project. Not every editor knows how to manage a team and create budgets and schedules that keep a project on track.
